Miriam Markfield joined Walker Lambe in 2010, after earning her Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law. While at Duke, Miriam served as a Staff Editor and later as a Lead Editor on the Duke Journal for Comparative and International Law. Prior to law school, Miriam graduated Summa Cum Laude from Furman University with a B.A. in History and Ancient Greek.
Miriam is admitted to practice law in North Carolina and practices primarily in the areas of Estate Planning and Elder Law, including Medicaid planning, Special Needs planning and Veterans Administration Aid and Attendance planning. Miriam is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and of the Durham County Bar Association.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Miriam now resides in Chapel Hill with her husband, Evan. She is deeply committed to rescuing animals in need and serves on the Board of Directors for Independent Animal Rescue in Durham. In her free time, Miriam enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family.
