Stephen C. Rhudy
Bio
After 40 years in private practice, mostly at Walker Lambe, Steve Rhudy’s principal practice endeavors are estate planning, estate, gift and income tax planning, charitable gift planning, and estate and trust administration. He also assists clients with business and intellectual property transactions and provides legal counsel to non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Walker Lambe, Steve practiced in Raleigh and in the Research Triangle Park. Steve served for several years as a lecturer at North Carolina State University, teaching classes in Business, Agricultural and Environmental Law.
Steve’s background as a university math student and “son-of-an-engineer,” and his years of experience in legal practice inform his approach to his work. Steve believes that a key part of his role as legal adviser is not only to understand where his clients come from, and where they might seem to be going, but also to provide them with enough legal and practical education to allow them to define their goals, identify particular challenges, and make thoughtful and well-informed decisions. He believes that the best solutions are crafted with conscientious attention to detail.
Steve and his wife, Jane, enjoy retreats to the family cabin at Rhudy Hill, built on a piece of his great grandfather’s farm in the Highlands of Southwest Virginia. They often venture down the Crooked Road to hear some traditional music.
Although he was raised and educated in upstate New York, Steve has lived in the Triangle most of his life. His wife and two twenty-something daughters are North Carolina natives.
